“Ethics” of Using AI or Artificial Intelligence

Since people here just adore throwing around the word, “ethics” I thought I will talk about the ethics of using AI or artificial intelligence. Artificial Intelligence didn’t magically appear during the last few years, as it appears to have, it has been around for 60 plus years, officially. I think people tend to go to town with things, especially if they are from where I am. Here are some things you might want to consider when using “AI” or artificial intelligence.

AI is Not Always Right

While I can’t argue that I felt that AI is honest more than most people here, it tells the truth it thinks is true. Since it was created by humans, who are not always right (even if they firmly believe they are in and are oftentimes are in complete denial due to pride and ego), AI can make mistakes too. In other words, it can be wrong. Therefore when consulting AI on important matters, other than posting things on social media, you might want to fact-check what AI tools such as ChatGPT says.

If You Have the Budget, Use a Human

If you are a big corporate giant who has ample money to spare, I think you should be using real humans and not AI to generate images. I am talking about a big company here starting with the first letter of my first name ironically. If you have more than enough to spare, you might want to be more “ethical” and start using human generated content rather than AI. While AI is undoubtedly fascinating, sometimes it fails to hit the mark with humans because if I know anything about humans from completing a psychology degree is that they relate more to those like them, that is humans.

Knowing How to Use AI Doesn’t Always Make You an Expert

I have met many “professionals” here especially in the fields of digital marketing, who think they know everything because they can use tools like ChatGPT. I am here to say, well, you’ve only scratched the tip of the iceberg, as you will find out the more time you spend in the field. I also have met some really unprofessional professionals in the field too, in institutions offering “certificates” and “diplomas” in digital marketing here. It’s okay not to award your prestigious qualification, but at least be “professional” in the manner you go about it.

I could write a whole book about how people abuse AI but I will stop because I think you got the message.

PS: This post was written in an honest tone because I wanted to tell the truth, at least, my version of it.
